Celebrating 80th Independence Day 2026, NCPOR.

Celebrating 80 years of India’s Independence, a remarkable journey shaped by courage, resilience, progress and a strong vision for the future. Marking this historic milestone, the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) celebrated the nation’s enduring legacy and spirit of exploration. The celebration began with the singing of the National Song, followed by the unfurling of the Tricolour by Dr. Thamban Meloth, Director, NCPOR, and the National Anthem.

In his Independence Day address, Director NCPOR, highlighted NCPOR’s significant infrastructural advancements and encouraged the NCPOR community to continue serving the nation through scientific excellence. He acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the institute’s scientists, engineers, research students and support staff, whose work in polar and ocean research is strengthening India’s scientific capabilities and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
