Fostering Scientific Cooperation: NCPOR and AWI Explore Collaborative Opportunities

NCPOR hosted a delegation from the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), Germany on 12–13 March 2026. A team of six five scientists led by Dr. Maarten Boersma, Director (interim), AWI. Dr. Thamban Meloth, Director, NCPOR, highlighted the institute’s key research areas, while scientists from both sides shared ongoing work in polar and ocean sciences and explored potential avenues for collaboration. A dedicated poster session showcasing NCPOR’s research initiatives and lab visit further enabled meaningful discussions and identification of joint research opportunities. Building on the signed MoU between NCPOR and AWI, the visit marks a significant step toward translating this partnership into concrete scientific and operational collaborations.
