Expression of Interest (EOI)

CORRIGENDUM

The Borehole Geophysics Research Laboratory under the ESSO- Ministry of Earth Sciences, intends to drill a scientific research well of 3000m depth in the Koyna region, Maharashtra state. The purpose of the well is to facilitate scientific studies on reservoir triggered earthquakes occurring in this region, and is not meant for commercial activities. Drilling has to be carried out through basalt and granite-gneiss rock formations. In order to identify a suitable firm for carrying out the drilling and related activities, the ESSO-National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research on behalf of the Borehole Geophysics Research Laboratory invites expressions of interest (EOI) from suitably qualified bidders. In-situ measurements as well as long-term monitoring will be carried out using seismometers and other sensors in cased / open well sections. This well will be followed by other scientific well(s) up to depth of 5 km in the Koyna region. The Borehole Geophysics Research Laboratory set up at Karad (near Koyna) will be co-ordinating all the project related activities.

The bidder / contractor has to take full responsibility for the drilling project starting from carrying out civil works / preparation of civil foundations for their rig and also for equipments meant for other associated services. The bidder has to deploy a suitable rig for drilling up to 3000m with 5" drill pipe and to lower 5 1/2" casing up to 3000m. The rig should be equipped to drill with air as well as conventional water base mud. The bidder has to provide (i) Mud services, (ii) Cementing services, (iii) Mobile Effluent Treatment Plant (METP) services, (iv) Mud logging services, and (v) Wireline logging services. Apart from these, the Bidder has also to provide the well materials and consumables such as casings of various sizes, well head, X-mas tree, etc. and drilling and core bits of various sizes.

In a nutshell the bidder / contractor has to take the Single Point Responsibility for drilling the well with their rig and by hiring different services as indicated above, and providing the entire well materials and consumables required for drilling the well on an Integrated Well Completion (IWC) basis.

The drilling project is a prestigious scientific effort of the Government of India aimed at creating a niche capability for India in the field of earthquake research globally. Interested bidders are therefore requested to attend the meeting scheduled on 30/03/2015 at the Borehole Geophysics Research Laboratory, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), near RTO Office, Karad-Patan Road, Supane, Karad 415114, Satara district, Maharashtra to discuss all issues and requirements for the project. The bidders may come with documents in support of their credentials and experience, and be prepared to stay for two days – first day for site visit and second day for discussions. Karad is located about 170 km from Pune Airport on the NH-4.
